Summer Financial Aid

Leeward CC students attending summer may be eligible to receive financial aid to assist with costs. Financial aid for the summer term is limited to only federal aid: Federal Pell Grant and Federal Direct Loan Programs. Due to limitations on the eligibility of the Federal Pell Grant and Federal Direct Loan Programs, not all students will be eligible for financial assistance during the summer. The Financial Aid Office will begin to award summer aid starting May 3. Students will be notified via their UH email once their financial aid award is available.

Eligibility Requirements for Summer Aid:

    • Filed a 2022-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and list Leeward Community College (School Code: 004549).
    • Meet all financial aid Basic Eligibility Requirements.
    • Have not petitioned to graduate for Spring 2023.
    • Be registered by our school’s Summer Enrollment Level Census Date, June 13, 2023. Please remember that you can only receive financial aid for courses that apply to your degree.
    • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAP) at the end of the Spring 2023 semester; if you are a continuing student, summer financial aid is contingent upon SAP.

If you would like to be considered for Summer Financial Aid, please email us at lccfao@hawaii.edu once you have registered for your Summer courses.

    In general:

      • Pell Grant funds will disburse once you begin attendance.
      • Student loan funds will disburse once you begin attendance. All student loans require two separate disbursement, first at the beginning of the loan period and the second at the midpoint of the loan period.

Disbursements are processed electronically, and applied to your student account, whether or not you have any outstanding tuition/fee charges.  If you have excess funds/credit balance, the Cashier’s Office will process a refund.
